Ai Jia - Loving My Family Flag Day
Date: 17 February 2007, Sat
( 9am - 3pm)
Event synopsis:
A unique Flag Day (and our very first) with a strong message of "Ai Jia - Loving My Family". Building upon the traditional celebration of family ties during Chinese New Year, our objective was to emphasise the importance of family love and unity in Singapore. 630 volunteers from students to entire families (with kids!) participated in this island-wide campaign, raising $34,294.65! But the success of this Flag Day was more than financial - the dedication from our team of multi-racial volunteers, all wearing our 'Ai Jia' teeshirt, and more importantly, the message, was overwhelming. A very big Thank You to all who supported our Flag Day!

Event: Marriage Retreat
Date:  16 September 2006, Sat (9am - 9pm)
Event synopsis:
28 couples, young and old, participated in our very first Marriage Retreat held at The Legends Fort Canning Park. A collaboration with South East CDC’s newly formed M(arriage)-Club, the event commemorated the launch of our marriage preparation/enrichment program, Connect2, which aims to help couples build a successful lifelong relationship. Dave and Anne Carlos from Care for the Family UK were assisted by 3 couple facilitators to ensure everyone was well cared for. Participants gave the event a resounding thumbs-up, indicating that they would recommend this to their friends. In fact, many wished it lasted longer. A wife in her early 30s summed up the event, “I came this morning feeling a bit sad about my marriage, but left feeling hopeful.”

Event: "The World of Narnia"
Date:  17 - 24 Dec 05, Sat
- Sun
Venue:  Orchard Turn (next to Orchard MRT)
In view of the release of Disney/Walden’s movie "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" in Dec 2005, FOTFS embarked on this ambitious 8-day event from Dec 17-24, 2005 at Orchard Road, recognising that this was a unique opportunity to promote family values through wholesome edutainment that affirms the virtues of self-sacrifice, love, integrity and courage found in the Narnian story.

A masive 20-metre air-conditioned tent was errected to give visitors an interactive, multi-sensory Narnian experience, complete with costumed characters interacting with the audience amidst the different scenes from the story, and even falling snow! Outside the giant tent was a festive carnival featuring stage performances, roaming jesters, balloon sculptress, archery, photo booths, fun-filled games and activities, and Narnian merchandise for sale. Leveraging on Disney’s high quality movie artwork our integrated publicity program via newpapers, magazines, radio, internet and 90.000 flyers reached some 600,000 people and translated into participation of approximately 30,000 at our event with some 14,000 attending our main tent performances.

Event: A(bstinence) Day
Date:  14 Feb 06, Tue

Venue:  Junction 8 Shopping Centre Atrium (Level 2) and Focus On The Family Singapore Office (Level 8)
Following the success of our W.orth W.aiting F.or event on Valentine's Day 2005, A(bstinence)-Day was organised on Valentine’s Day 2006, with a new tag-line: "Live life with no apologies". It was also the day we launched our new A-journal, produced by FOTFS to communicate the message of true love and purity. At least 250 participants played stage games in the atrium of Junction 8 and dropped by FOTFS’ office to say the tag-line in exchange for a free A-Journal. All participants, young and old, single or married, were also asked to write down the meaning of true love to them. See more photos
