Focus on the Family was founded in 1977 by psychologist, author and family counsellor, Dr. James Dobson, in response to increasing concern for the breakdown of the American family.  Beginning with a weekly radio program, Focus on the Family has grown into an international organisation with radio and TV programs now broadcast in more than 120 countries, thru more than 6,000 stations.  Our quality family education content is also carried in many national newspapers and family magazines.  Together with award-winning books, 9 magazine titles, videos, DVDs and CDs on family life issues, Focus on the Family is today acknowledged as one of the world’s leading advocates for the institution of family.

Focus on the Family Singapore Ltd was launched into full-fledged operations in April 2002 as a local charity dedicated to the strengthening of Singapore families.  We have been able to place our well-researched family life content on local TV, radio, in the newspapers, magazines and on the web.  To date, we have an estimate reach of some 900,000 constituents and our mass media messages are reinforced during the year with more than 400 family events, seminars, workshops and talks, plus distribution of approximately 41,000 books, magazines, VCDs, CDs and booklets thru family service centres, schools, libraries, bookstores and churches.

As incorporated in the Singapore 21 Family Values, we believe there is no substitute for a strong family.  It is here that husbands and wives, siblings, parents and children, and young and old, learn to grow together and care for one another.  A loving and secure family can make all the difference in helping individuals withstand the tremendous pressure of the 21st century.  Our mission is to strengthen the institution of family by coming alongside families to enrich them.

We are a volunteer-driven organization with 800+ dedicated volunteers working alongside 15 staff. This enables us to maximize our reach and execute our comprehensive range of Family Life Education activities with good stewardship of financial and people resources.  We have IPC status and are authorized to issue tax-exempt receipts which entitle our individual and corporate donors to double tax-deduction benefits.
